New technology offers flexibility for firms of all types and sizes looking to include JISAs within their platforms
Seccl, the Octopus-owned custodian and platform technology provider, has launched a new JISA API – making it one of the few providers to facilitate JISAs on a modular, API basis, as well as through its ready-made user interfaces (UIs).
As a result, JISAs are now available not only to Seccl-powered platforms that use its off-the-shelf adviser and client portals – for example the award-winning P1 Platform – but to any firm looking to build its own interface or technology directly on top of Seccl’s custody and investment APIs.
These could be financial advice or investment management firms with their own technology teams (or those using third-party client portals), or fintechs looking to build innovative investment propositions that make use of the increasingly popular child savings vehicle – like CIRCA5000 (formerly Tickr), the impact investing app and certified B Corp.
Sam Handfield-Jones, Co-CEO of Seccl, explained: “By offering our JISA via API, we’re hoping to support firms of all types and sizes in their goal of launching the affordable, easy-to-use investment platforms of the future.
“We are passionate in our belief that the infrastructure of investments and advice needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, in a way that truly harnesses the flexibility and integration-friendly nature of APIs. Our new JISA is simply the newest piece in the API investment puzzle.”
James Priday, CEO of P1 Investment Management, whose P1 Platform makes use of the JISA technology, said: “JISAs are a staple in an advice firm’s arsenal, but as with all of its technology, Seccl’s stands out for its speed, flexibility and, of course, its absolute lack of paper. Creating a JISA on the P1 Platform takes seconds – and doesn’t involve endless back-and-forth with platform admin teams.
Matt Latham, Co-founder of CIRCA5000 (formerly Tickr), which integrates with Seccl’s technology directly via API, added: “Seccl’s JISA API has enabled us to offer a seamless JISA experience, allowing guardians to easily open and manage accounts alongside their other CIRCA5000 investments. This API-first approach to investment infrastructure has helped us to rapidly break down barriers to entry – enabling our team to build and launch a JISA offering for our fast-growing user base in a fraction of the time.”
The announcement follows the recent news that Seccl has powered the launch of Tillit, the DIY investment platform launched by experienced former Baillie Gifford fund manager, Felicia Hjertman – and has strengthened its adviser services team with a trio of experienced industry professionals, bringing nearly 70 years combined of financial services experience from Raymond James, Standard Life Aberdeen (Abrdn) and Sanlam UK.
